I’m Barb, the ‘Maker‘
Hi There! I’m Barb. For as long as I can remember I have been artistic; designing, drawing and making stuff. Now, after over 20 years of teaching at an Art college and becoming a Technical Illustrator I bring that expertise to you. I taught perspective drawing and 3D design so I understand how to work with form.
I’m absolutely not afraid to get my hands dirty, or even covered in concrete. Since having illustrated many how-to books I know how to provide detailed information. I make sure to write my tutorials from my personal knowledge and experiences. My ‘Instructables’ posts have won more than 40 awards. My strong mother taught me that there truly is no boundary of what a determined woman can do.
As seen in:
I got my first sewing machine at 12 years old and that lead me to design & sew most of my own clothes; and develop a love for fabric and fibre. But it doesn’t stop there; I love challenging the boundaries of crafting techniques so I can inspire more creativity in the world.
I pride myself by personally designing unique & original projects but also still mindful of using materials that are up-cycled or inexpensive. From Dremels to sewing machines to chainsaws, ‘making’ comes in all kinds of forms!
I hope to inspire you so that you can also say; ‘I made that!’
